What is lactic acid?

Lactic acid is also called “milk” acid. This liquid is naturally produced by the body in the skin of the vulva and inside the vagina to create a naturally acidic environment. This natural acidity favors the perfect balance of vaginal flora. The good and bad bacteria present in the vagina are then kept in balance, keeping the intimate zone safe from all kinds of infections. Lactic acid is produced by lactobacilli (the good bacteria), whose growth is in turn also facilitated by an acidic (low pH) environment.

Lactacyd products contain biologic L-lactic acid, the same kind the body produces naturally, and have an adapted pH that respects the natural acidity of the vagina.
